Kyocera recognized early on the burden that business activities can place on the environment and on human life. We have strived to maintain clear vision in pursuing a harmonious balance between economic development and environmental preservation. In addition to operating under strict, group-wide environmental preservation measures -- including ozone layer protection, waste reduction, and energy and resource conservation - it is Kyocera's policy to develop products that can actively alleviate existing environmental problems.

In manufacturing, various factors can lead to loss. However, this loss can be reduced to at or near zero through total awareness of all parties involved. Through our comprehensive approach to "visibility," Kyocera Mita publicly shares all problem spots and issues with every employee. This approach utilizes the awareness of each individual to minimize loss. All employees develop careful eyes for strictly checking each individual part, helping to achieve loss reduction. Multiple measures are taken to ensure product quality, including issuing acknowledgments even if a single potentially fatal defect is reported during the month. These are just some of the ways we evaluate our stance toward comprehensive product quality throughout the company.

The Kyocera Mita Group Committee oversees the environmental management of the entire Kyocera Mita Group. Created in February 2004, the Green Committee consists of senior level management followed by seven subcommittees that are assigned to the task of reducing the environmental load across the product lifecycle.
The long-life components that Kyocera Mita has developed for its copiers and printers result in minimal environmental waste because they rarely require replacement. Kyocera Mita develops products to be in line with the strictest environmental standards worldwide and actively pursues the achievement of these. Lead free solder on circuit boards, computer design to minimize resource consumption and environment friendly packaging demonstrate just some of the ways Kyocera Mita is committed to minimizing the environmental impact of its products.
Shortly after the introduction of the ISO14000 standards for environmental management, Kyocera Mita made a corporate effort to demonstrate its environmental commitment by registering for the ISO14001 standard. All Kyocera Mita production plants have achieved ISO14001 certification.
